Walk like an Egyptian

This week we welcomed Mr Philip Harris, an Ancient Egyptologist, to Cheadle Primary School. He spent a whole day
with us and brightened our learning with a multitude of stories, some amazing historical facts and a wealth of
incredible, real Egyptian artefacts. Everyone was literally mesmerised with his fantastic knowledge and could not
wait to join in with the elaborate Egyptian banquet and the brilliant mummifying experience!

On Wednesday Year 3 had an Egyptian day. It was a fantastic day.In the morning, we walked into the hall to see the visitor. His name was Mr Egypt and he was an Egyptologist, he knew everything about Ancient Egypt. In the hall, Mr Egypt let us ask questions and there was Egyptian music on. After break, we had an Egyptian breakfast which was pitta bread. Then Mr Egypt went into our classroom to teach us about hieroglyphics and maths. We had to decode the hieroglyphics and we wrote our name. Before lunch, he told us about how the Egyptians use to get a hook and a hammer to whisk brains into brain soup! Yuk!
In the afternoon, we walked into the hall again and Mr Egypt let us hold some artefacts from ancient Egypt. Excitedly, we worked in groups to wrap a person in toilet roll- they were a mummy! We learned about tombs next and the curse of the pharaohs. We had question time and that was the end of the day.

We all had an amazing day!
