- Today Cheadle Primary School Council took part in a procession to celebrate Commonwealth Day along with other schools in Cheadle.
- We walked to Lulworth House in the Market Place. When we got there the Commonwealth Affirmation was read out and also a message from the Queen. After this the Commonwealth Flag was raised, then we went and had juice and biscuits.
- Every year there is a different theme. This year’s theme is ‘a Peace-Building Commonwealth’.
On 11th November school council members from year 4, 5 and 6 went to St Giles’ Anglican Church for a Remembrance Day service along with Mrs Bell, Mr Chandler (an ex-Royal Marine) and PC Mark (an ex-RAF serviceman).
The Cheadle branch of Royal British Legion laid a wreath on each of the 13 graves of soldiers who lost their lives during World War I and were followed by our school council who laid their crosses. A two minute silence was observed followed by ‘The Last Post’
